New archbishop of Los Angeles

The Popette has appointed a member of Opus Dei - attacked/ridiculed in The DaVinci Code as evil conspirators - as head of LA diocese and made him a Cardinal, slapping in the face Hollywood, which created that evil movie. Here is a tidbit about the Opus Dei folks: Some of its priests practice self-flagellation while praying to the Virgin Mary and also wear a cilice – a spiked garter – to help them to mortify the flesh and avoid sexual sins.

This guy is charged with leading the lapsed faithful back into regular church-going.  I think this is called 'power politics' or 'I have the power, and I'll show you.'  Let us know how that works out.
